Frequently asked questions

›Where do I find my car's CO2 figure?

On the V5C logbook in section V.7, or run a free car check with the number plate and we'll look it up.

›Is it cheaper to pay car tax monthly?

No. 12 monthly Direct Debits cost 5% more than paying for the year in one go: £210 instead of £200 on the standard rate. Six-monthly payments cost 10% more, or 5% more by Direct Debit. A single 12-month payment, by Direct Debit or not, is the cheapest.

›When do car tax rates change?

Rates usually rise with inflation every 1 April, and rule changes are announced in the Budget.
